DaVis's Christmas celeberation at KL

(30-12-2009)

Christmas or Christmas Day is an annual Christian Holiday commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ. It is celebrated on December 25, but this date is not known to be Jesus' actual Birthday, and may have initially been chosen to correspond with either the day exactly nine months after some early Christians believed Jesus had be conceived, a historical Roman Festival, or the date of the northern hemisphere's Winter solstice Christmas is central to the Christmas and Holiday season, and in Christianity marks the beginning of the larger season of Christmastide, which lasts for 12 days..XD

As for me,This I've had celebrate a special Christmas by joining Caroling and church services. And it was my 1st time and it was meaningful and learn a lot about this world wide celebration.Christmas aren't about gift, sales or teh fatty old sant but to celebrate the day of birth for Jesus christ..even though Im not a christian but I agree with that and I join the church service and caroling..

Davis's Winter Solstice Festival at KL

(30-12-2009)

The
The Dōngzhì Festival or Winter Solstice Festival had just passed few weeks ago and now I'm going share about my celebration for this chinese festive at Kuala Lumpur for the 1st time with my friends and course mates. Usually,I will celebrate this festival with my family at Sabah...well..since Im studying at KL now,I cant get to eat my mom's cooking..T_T but to celebrate with my friends here and nasi lemak Ayam as dinner with Adrian. ...XD

Before I start to share my celebration with you guys,I would like to share with guys the information about this festival..

The Dōngzhì Festival or Winter Solstice Festival ( 冬至)is one of the most important festivals celebrated by the chinese and other east asians during the (winter solstice) on or around December 22 when sunshine is weakest and daylight shortest.

Traditionally, the Dongzhi Festival is also a time for the family to get together. One activity that occurs during these get together is the making and eating of Tang yuan (湯圓) or balls of glutinuous rice, which symbolize reunion. Tangyuan are made of glutinuous rice flour and sometimes brightly coloured. Each family member receives at least one large Tang Yuan in addition to several small ones. The flour balls may be plain or stuffed. They are cooked in a sweet soup or savoury broth with both the ball and the soup/broth served in one bowl.

The festive food is also a reminder that we are now a year older and should behave better in the coming year. Even today, many Chinese around the world, especially the elderly, still insist that one is "a year older" right after the Dong Zhi celebration instead of waiting for the chinese new year...XD

wookay..enough for boring information...it's time for my sharing. On the day of the winter solstice,I've been to 2 places in 1 night with my Adrian to make some Tang Yuan with his UTAR course mates and friends at PJ...It was a memorable activity with them...get to make new friends and it was funny when we doing ''special''Tnag yuan together...penut butter tang yuan..and so on...luckily no one went to hospital after eating dose''special'' Tang Yuan..just let the photos to do the talking...XD
